| RECREATION
POOL LODGE [RPL] FACILITY With its rustic wood paneled interior and ceiling-high windows, Recreation Pool Lodge provides an attractive environment for a variety of events including conferences, lectures, receptions, banquets, weddings, dances and other social functions. The Main Room has hardwood flooring and is furnished with comfortable chairs. The carpeted West Room has a seating capacity for 40 and is often used for lectures or buffet arrangements. The meeting room on the second floor of the lodge can be used for a lecture, dinner, or classroom instruction for 50 people, or can be divided into two smaller "break out" rooms holding up to 25 people each. A carpeted balcony overlooks the main floor and provides an outside exit staircase. During the chilly winter months, a roaring fire in the lodge's large stone gas fireplace can create a particularly inviting atmosphere. Directly to the south of the Lodge, a large tree-lined patio provides a lovely shaded location for outside dining during warm weather months. An expansive lawn east of the lodge is available for outside events, including recreational swimming at the adjacent UC Davis Recreational Pool. A handicap accessible bathroom and convenient pay parking are also available. COMPUTER ACCESSIBILITY Rec pool has 6 active NAM which are easily used by students and staff. Refer to the IP/NAM page for information on setting up computers/laptops. Any off-campus client must register their computer through IT Communication Resources. All clients are to provide their own ethernet cord. Contact MU Lodges at (530)752-1010 to take care of all the interior setup options. Contact campus Custodial for exterior setups at (530)752-1831. RECREATION POOL LODGE HISTORY The
Recreation Pool Lodge is located just north of the Recreation Pool in
the corner of Hutchison and La Rue. It was constructed in June 1968 and
funded by student registration fees. As the number of students attending
the University increased, it created a demand for additional spaces for
social gatherings and functions. Serving the University community for
over thirty years, the Lodge is still a favorite spot during the winter
because of its rustic lodge design and during the summer because of its
proximity to the UC Davis Recreational pool. The lodges host over 540
events annually. |
